Do androids dream of artistic sheep?

This series of little sketches (that you can open from the paws above) visualise how well artificial intelligence (circa Sept 2015) is able to interpret and project an artists style onto the content of another image. They allow you to see and compare how a machine's brain re-interprets this image in the style of notable artworks. All the very clever deep learning and computing stuff comes from A Neural Algorithm of Artistic Style: a paper by Leon A. Gatys, Alexander S. Ecker, and Matthias Bethge; as implemented in Torch by Justin Johnson. Well done to these brilliant folk. This has been stitched together for part fun, part learning, and part experimentation. Further speculation, exploration and work to come...
